The Bespoke Dudes Eyewear is a collection of handmade in Italy sunglasses and glasses, selected by Fabio Attanasio, founder of The Bespoke Dudes blog, and created by the skilled hands of Italian artisans.
Wearing the gold Vicuna Sunglasses.
Everyone one who knows me and A Poor Man’s Millions blog reconise my lover for sunglasses. I have worn anything from affordable Bailey Nelson’s to Cutler & Gross and with all I look for two main things; quality and price. If the quality isn’t there then the price doesn’t matter, there is no other way to look at this.
TBD eyewear was a brand that sparked my interest when Fabio Attanasio first brought them out, being a admirer and now friend of Fabio’s, I wanted to get hands on with them.
Technically, I could have just bought pair and gone off my trust in which I knew he would make something of quality for a good price regardless but I am someone who likes to feel and wear a product. With this I can truelly experince not only the product itself but the story too.
Whilst at Pitti Uomo 90 last June 2016, I met Andrea Vigano. Andrea is Fabio’s business partner and the co-founder of TBD Eyewear. Who took me to their stand and through their collection.
The first thing I noticed about the frames was the weight. They had some body not heavy but enough so you could feel you were wearing them. The second was the construction, they all have re-enforced arms that connect to the hinges via rivets, to which the frame is also connected in the same way. The handmade frames are beautifully finished and most styles come in two sizes.
The first collection represents our personal idea of elegance: a simple and clean design of men’s sunglasses and glasses. The name comes from the space between the collar and the lapel of the jacket. These unisex glasses are completely hand-made in Italy and available in two versions: eyewear and sunglasses. The range of colours goes from honey to transparent and from tortoise to military color-way.
Pleat is a praise of tradition, an ode to the charm of vintage goods, a tribute to a typical Italian design combined with functionality. Conceived as unisex eyeglasses, they become sunglasses thanks to a clip-on which is as light as a credit card and can be kept in the internal pocket of a jacket or in a purse. A simple gesture is enough to attach the clip on the frames.
This new collection is made of brushed acetate, with a rounded shape, slightly bigger than our iconic Cran collection. Thanks to their textured finish these stylish sunglasses look like they are made of wood, while in actual fact they are wholly crafted from Italian acetate; the frames call to mind the actual canvas used by the tailors to make a jacket.
The name of this model comes from the shape of their tops, which resemble the point of a jacket lapel. This collection introduces new colours like forest green and amber tortoise.
Inspired by the precious fabric of the same name, used by the ancient Inca tribes to make the clothes for the kings, the VICUNA collection is crafted from noble materials, such as rhodium and 24 karat gold. These glasses are extremely lightweight and they match perfectly with tailored suits and more formal looks. Available both as prescription eyewear and sunglasses, the models range from pure rhodium to rhodium combined with 2 microns of 24 karat gold and 2 microns of palladium. These numbers provide an out of the ordinary plating, 80 times higher than other ordinary frames available on the market. Flat Zeiss lenses, high-quality leather case along with temple ends in pure briar-colored acetate and the laser-decorated frames complete this masterful collection which is, as always, handcrafted in Italy.
This collection takes its name from one of the most fascinating coats of the classic male wardrobe. The protagonist here is the rhodium, a precious and very durable material, obtained with 3 microns of Palladium. The round shape of the frame and the flat Zeiss lenses ensure high-quality standards. The extremely lightweight frame is devoid of decoration and ends with a simple and subtle temple. In this way, the Ulster models create an even more retro look. All the models are available both as prescription eyewear and as sunglasses. Lastly, the sunglasses case is in high-quality leather and completely handcrafted in Italy.
