Cuba Receives First US Shipment Since 1962

For the first time in 50 years, Havana Bay received a shipment from the United States. The Ana Cecilia set sail for Cuba around 11:00AM on Friday, July 13, 2012 to deliver food, medicine, clothing and other goods to the Cubans suffering under communist rule.

The US has had a trade embargo on Cuba since 1962, but President Obama has been easing back on the restrictions since he took office, most likely to gain the Cuban-American vote in the upcoming 2012 election.
