It’s no secret. Saturday Night Live damn sure isn’t what it used to be. SNL has launched the careers of some of the biggest comedic geniuses to ever hit the scene such as Eddie Murphy, Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Chris Farley, Will Farrell and the list goes on. Since then, they’ve kind of lost their magic and their obvious political agenda has become apparent, keeping many (including me from tuning in on Saturday nights.
That being said, here’s an actually funny skit featuring Chris Parnell as the author of “Don’t Buy Things You Cannot Afford” painfully trying to talk sense into a couple played by Amy Poehler and comedy legend, Steve Martin, as the special guest. “Don’t Buy Things You Cannot Afford” details how ridiculously easy it is to budget your money and manage debt and is the basic premise of conservatism. If only our government had a copy of this one-page book, we might not be looking at an insurmountable debt crisis that will surely be paid for on the backs of our children.
