In today’s economy, entrepreneurs have to find creative ways to obtain investments and encourage growth. A.J. Steigman, co-founder of Soletron – a streetwear social network and e-commerce platform, has utilized his unique skill set as a means to generate a lot of buzz and grab the attention from the co-founder of Pay Pal.

Steigman has challenged venture capital legend, Peter Thiel, to a chess match. So what’s on the line? Steigman has offered shares of Soletron, which will be determined upon negotiations. In return, A.J. has called for Thiel to post up $1 million towards Soletron’s fundraising efforts.
“If you accept, just make sure you bring your PayPal account,” Steigman says, grinning. “It’s your move.”
The two men match up quite well, in their background and their chess skills. Both Steigman and Thiel are ranked in the top 1% of all U.S. chess players. Steigman has a lot of respect for Thiel and sees this opportunity as a chance to show what he’s got. He has also stated that all sponsored proceeds will go to charity. Bobby Fischer would be proud.
