Lingerie Football LeagueI’ll be brutally honest. I’m about as interested in women’s sports as I am interested in listening the the new Bieber album. That being said, there is one women’s sports league that has had my attention since it began…and apparently I’m not the only one. The Lingerie Football League started back in 2009 and has since gained an international following. Gee, I wonder why. Sexy, athletic women in lingerie beating the crap out of each other on the football field…and they can actually play football! That’s a recipe for success if I’ve ever seen one.

The Lingerie Football League was recently named the “nation’s fastest growing sports league” by NBC Sports, has the first ever video game in the history of women’s sports and draws sell-out crowds throughout the US and internationally.

Due to its popularity and subsequent backlash from feminist groups, the Lingerie Football League has decided to re-brand its image to showcase the athleticism of the female football players within their ranks, rather than their sexiness. Gone are the frilly lingerie uniforms and sex symbols. But don’t worry. From the looks of it, the uniforms are just as sexy.

The Lingerie Football League (LFL) re-branding announcement also included:
– All lingerie aspects of uniform have been replaced with “performance wear”
– New design of logos have removed sexy female figures
– Redesign of shoulder pads in order to increase protection
– Brand tag line has changed from “True Fantasy Football” to “Women of the Gridiron”

While the Lingerie Football League name has drawn great media attention allowing us to showcase the sport to millions, we have now reached a crossroad of gaining credibility as a sport or continuing to be viewed as a gimmick. In the coming years we will further establish this sport in the US, Australia, Europe and Asia as the most known form of American football globally.
