On March 6th, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) created more waves than a typhoon in Washington, DC, which resonated throughout the nation. Rand Paul has given new life to the Libertarian Party, Constitution Party and Tea Party movements. The son of libertarian legend, U.S. Congressman and three time Presidential candidate (1988, 2008 and 2012), Ron Paul, Rand is proof that the libertarian apple didn’t fall far from the tree.

Rand Paul’s filibuster comes after President Obama’s nomination of John Brennan as the CIA Director and newly released information regarding drone strikes on American citizens. The marathon filibuster by Rand Paul has sparked a lot of conversation from both the left and the right. Many people were shocked to realize that our own government was proposing such anti-American actions as targeting drone strikes against unarmed American civilians and non-combatants without due process or limits of executive process. This is blatant violation of not only the US Constitution, but our basic human rights. The Rand Paul filibuster lasted almost 13 hours on the Senate floor and stirred the pot to bring up one of the most important debates of our lifetime, whether or not our government has the right to launch drone strikes against non-combatant American citizens.
