Taste of Dahntahn: Yinz are Welcome

Downtown Pittsburgh is in the process of receiving a much-needed facelift and has been over the last few years or so. Market Square, now the hub of the city along with the Cultural District, has turned full circle. With the revitalizing of the downtown Pittsburgh area came an increase of a downtown nightlife. The city is no longer a desolate ghost town after dark and cool new restaurants and bars have been popping up.

Taste of Dahntahn celebrates the history of Pittsburgh while looking forward to the promising future of the up-and-coming city. Located in the historic Dallmeyer Building on Liberty Avenue (across from Market Square), Taste of Dahntahn offers Pittsburghers and out-of-towners alike an upscale gastropub featuring live music, plenty of TVs, classic pop culture ambiance, food and libations.

The place itself is a throwback to the art deco era and is uniquely “Pittsburgh” with black and white photos showcasing the transformation of Pittsburgh from the Steel City to its current status in the arts and entertainment world.

An eclectic menu – which by the way resembles an iPad – lights up the items and ads to the ambiance and overall experience. You would be hard-pressed to find a patron who at first glance does not attempt to scroll through the menu as if it were a touch screen device to the amusement of the rest of the people at the table.

The food was very good and offered something for everyone. Whether you are belly-up to the bar or lounging next to Elvis and Marilyn Monroe in the back, Taste of Dahntahn offers a unique dining experience for the theatre crowd, business types and everyday Pittsburghers.
